We align testing with BS 13700 (permanent counterweighted/freestanding rails), BS EN 13374 (temporary edge protection), BS 6180 (barriers/balustrades in buildings) and BS EN ISO 14122-3 (machine/access ways). Legal duties sit under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
For permanent counterweighted guardrails, BS 13700 requires an annual thorough examination (and after any significant event, e.g. severe weather). Other systems follow manufacturer guidance and risk assessment (annually is a common baseline).
This part covers the design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of lightning protection systems for structures to prevent physical damage and reduce hazards to life.
This section addresses the protection of internal electrical and electronic systems from lightning electromagnetic impulse (LEMP).
